CDC Evolve is an awnless, hollow stemmed spelt suited to the longer crop season areas of Alberta and Saskatchewan. It was bred at the CDC in Saskatoon The variety is higher yielding than other spelt varieties and has a shorter straw and a lower lodging score. CDC Evolve is earlier to head and mature. Threshability is in the same range as the checks. It has a soft red kernel and weak gluten characteristics that are desirable for marketing.
